PASTA BAKE WITH MEAT

Ingredients

1 lb Italian or herb sausage thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (14 ounce) can diced canned tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato puree
8 ounces uncooked fusilli or penne pasta
8 ounces grated Cheddar cheese
1/4 cup parmesan cheese

Method

Pre-heat the oven to gas mark 4, 350°F (180°C).
Cook pasta until al dente 8 to 10 minutes remove from heat and drain.
Cook sausage (any cubed meat can be used instead) with the garlic, oregano, basil, onion, green pepper, salt and pepper until sausage is cooked and browned and vegetables are tender.
Add tinned tomatoes and tomato paste to mixture, bring to boil then simmer for ten minutes.
Add pasta to mixture and place into a casserole dish. Top mixture with grated cheddar and parmesan cheese place in middle of oven and cook for 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and casserole is bubbly.
